Mucha Lucha

Continuing from where I left off. What marvels me about wrestling is the way the wrestlers convey this narrative that the match they’re about to have is the product of all the off-screen hostility/antics between each other. If you look at Bret “The Hitman” Hart, I couldn’t imagine what he did day to day. Maybe just training — but in the midst of his training, Razor Ramon rode up, threw a few toothpicks off his car toward Bret and his friends, and drove off with ladies in his convertible. Or The Junkyard Dog helped people at his junkyard, but Rowdy Roddy Piper came in and threw a Molotov cocktail, burning a few piles.

This wasn’t the story presented, but as a kid, one only imagined. I mean, why else would they hate each other so much? Paul Heyman, during an interview, was talking about the genius of the character “Raven.” No one could really relate to Raven, despite Raven being relatable. He came from an abusive family, was down on his luck. No matter how hard he tried, he was always on the outs. Everyone just HATED Raven. The wrestler got in your head — got you to hate him for no reason. I could only imagine Raven during the week, going to work and getting fired, or trying to connect with his family, and they just close the door on him. Not real at all. Scott Anthony Levy, the man who played Raven, may have his own demons to work through, but the ones from this story. In spite of all that I know, I couldn’t wait until Tommy Dreamer, the Innovator of Violence, to bash Raven in ECW’s Wrestlepalooza ‘97. After this Tommy Dreamer can go back to his peaceful life of drinking and fighting in the streets and across various bars.

I always kept thinking about what their lives were like outside the ring — not as everyday people, but continuing the role/persona because that’s “who they are.” With this in mind, I made myself a wrestling persona:

“El Bandito” — The Bandit, terrorizing your peace. Disrupting the norm.Causing Chaos just because he can!

It was a fun way to make a few images mixed with some pictures of me. But what is the backstory as to why my oppononent wnats to fight El Bandito

El Bandito laughs at murder attempts cause he knows his oponents have no chance in hell. Tahts what they got.
